Perchworth is a tool for thinking through senior-care decisions. It works best when the math you build is yours alone, and when the conversations you have with other members are with other members — not with advertisers, lead-buyers, or anyone trying to sell you something based on what you typed.

This page is a plain-language description of what we collect, what we do not collect, and how the data is used. If anything here ever stops being true, we'll change this page first.

What we collect

  • Your email address. Used only to sign you in via a secure email link. No marketing emails. No selling your address.
  • A display name. What other members see when you post in the community. You pick it; you can change it on your dashboard.
  • The scenarios you save. These are private to you by default. If you choose to share one with family or attach it to a community post, that's an explicit action you take — not automatic.
  • Posts, comments, and votes you contribute to the community. Visible to other signed-in members per the rules of the space they're in.
  • Vendor contact messages. When you use the "Contact this vendor" form on a vendor's page, we keep a copy of the message you sent — the subject, the body, and the vendor it went to — for up to 12 months. This is so we can help if there's a dispute (you say the vendor ghosted you; the vendor says you never wrote) or if someone reports abuse. Admins can see these; we do not sell them, share them with other members, or hand them to third parties outside a valid legal request. We do not log the vendor's reply — that goes from their inbox to yours directly and does not pass through Perchworth.
  • Sign-in context. When you sign in, we store the country, state, and city of your sign-in as derived by our hosting provider, and what kind of device you signed in with (if we can tell from your browser). We do not store your raw IP address or your full browser fingerprint, and we do not record every page you visit. We reserve the right to use this information to show you locally relevant sponsored placement if you choose not to be a paying member in the future. Members in the free trial or with an active subscription do not see sponsored placement at all; the geographic information would only inform ads shown to you in a lapsed state.

What we do NOT collect

  • Your raw IP address. Vercel sees it at the edge to derive your country / state / city, then we store the derived geography and forget the IP. We do not write full IPs to the database.
  • Your full browser fingerprint. We record only a device class and browser family (e.g., "mobile, Safari"), not the long User-Agent string used for tracking.
  • Third-party analytics. No Google Analytics, no Facebook Pixel, no Mixpanel, no Segment. The login counter above is run by us, on our database, full stop.
  • Third-party advertising trackers. Perchworth uses no third-party ad cookies, no retargeting pixels, no behavioral ad networks. Any promotion we show is our own first-party sponsored placement sold to vendors, targeted only by geographic area (state, area code, or zip-code prefix). Those placements are server-rendered on the page you're already viewing, contain no scripts, and do not follow you around the web.

How we use it

  • Signing you in and remembering you between sessions.
  • Powering the product — saving your scenarios, showing community posts, calculating recommendations.
  • Aggregate, anonymized stats about who uses Perchworth (for example: "Perchworth has X weekly active members across the US, with the biggest concentrations in California, Texas, and Minnesota"). These aggregates may appear in marketing materials or vendor-partnership conversations. They are always rolled-up counts — not a list of who you are, where you live, or what you searched.

AI features

Some Perchworth features use third-party AI / large-language-model (LLM) service providers — currently Anthropic (Claude models) — to read documents you upload, configure your scenario from a free-form description, or help draft other content. The provider list may change over time as the field evolves; we'll update this page when it does. The providers we use are contractually committed to (a) processing your data only as needed to deliver the feature you invoked, and (b) not training their models on your inputs.

When you click Generate with AI on the calculator, the text you typed for that prompt is sent to the AI provider so it can produce the year-by-year care intensities. When you click Read with AI on a document, that file is sent once to the AI provider to extract the structured numbers. We log each call (provider, model, timing, cost) to monitor usage and stop abuse. Your community posts and private scenarios are not sent to any AI provider unless you explicitly invoke an AI feature on that content.

Selling data

We do not sell, rent, license, or share individual member data with advertisers, lead buyers, placement services, or senior-living operators. Vendors who buy sponsored placement see audience size for the geographic area they targeted — never identifying details about specific members who saw or interacted with the ad. Your name, email, saved scenarios, community posts, uploaded documents, and contact-form messages are not part of any vendor's data feed.

When you message a vendor through the directory's contact form, you are voluntarily sharing your account email with that specific vendor for that specific conversation. That is the only path your individual contact information takes off the platform.

The editorial point of Perchworth is that the rest of the industry sells individual leads and takes placement commissions; we do not. Geographic-area sponsored placement, like a local newspaper running ads for assisted-living facilities, is a different model — the vendor pays for visibility to a region, not for any specific person's contact information.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account any time from your account settings ("Danger zone"). Deletion is scheduled with a 14-day grace window — signing back in during that window cancels it — after which your account, scenarios, documents, and login records are permanently removed and any community posts or comments are anonymized. Prefer email? Write to hello@perchworth.com and we'll take care of it.

Changes to this page

If we change what we collect or how we use it, we'll update this page and the "Last updated" date at the top. For material changes (e.g., introducing a third-party analytics tool, or changing the "we don't sell data" position), we'll also email signed-in members directly.

Questions? Email hello@perchworth.com.
